Nomadic Belonging: South of France August 29-September 4, 2018
Provence in August. Magic Words.
The ancient French word romance comes from the two roots
'Romantic' poetry and medieval tales grew out out of this Provencal region, telling stories of warriors, royalty, and outsiders chasing each other or the sacred. 'Romance' has come to mean a predictably happy ending, but our journey is riskier: wandering, wondering, and adventure framed by morning and evening yoga and movement practices designed to reconnect you to your own story with fresh perspective on its next chapter. Through soulfully-designed workshops and movement practices, you'll uncover purpose and vision for how your story is unfolding, and how you want to embody it. We will weave this theme through days of wandering Saint-Tropez and the Cote d'Azur, local markets and a medieval island fort and abbey, floating down the largest canyon in Europe, cycling past vineyards and lilac fields, and nights of star gazing and deep-end friendships.
Wednesday, August 29th - Tuesday, September 4th, 2018
7 Days, 6 Nights in the hills of Provence, above the Cote D'Azur at Bastide Avellanne with free range of its pool, tennis court, and hiking trails
Morning and Sunset yoga + meditation + sweat sessions

Afternoons to wander, sit by the pool, run, hike, or cycle lilac fields, vineyards, and surrounding Provencal towns
Saint-Tropez, the gem of the Cote D'Azur, a seaside resort beloved by artists, bohemians, and the jet set for its deep history, colorful beauty, and stunning coves of white sand and crystal water. We'll tour the town, absorbing its history and art and soak up inspiration from
Gorges du Verdon, the largest river canyon in Europe. We will float down its mineral-rich, otherworldly aquamarine flow, hike its rim, trace the fingerprints of the sea, lunch in Moustiers Sainte-Marie, one of the most beautiful villages in Provence, and explore the workshops of its ceramicists.
Thoronet Abbey, above the Provencal hillside town of Cotignac with its renowned market, is a 12-century Cistercian Monastery now restored as a museum. We will explore the monastic theme of cultivating rich solitude and stillness in community, and cultivating spiritual practices in a creative workshop in this stunning space, then wander the town of Cotignac.
Porquerolles Island, a natural park only accessibly by ferry, has no cars, only bicycles crossing trails along white sand beaches. The fragrance of eucalyptus and pine hangs in the air and oak forests, olive, juniper, lavender thrive in this preserved slice of untouched French Riviera. You can bike, hike, or wander, or just dream on the beach.
